WHY BECOME A REFEREE?

Becoming a referee allows you to contribute to the continued success of the game in the Province. The role also allows you to give back to the community, while sharing and demonstrating the values of rugby with players of all ages and abilities. And on top of all that, it is a great way to meet new people and see new places! 

There are a number of benefits that come with being a referee, including:

  • Instill values and lessons to young rugby players about the game they love
  • Provide a much-needed service to your community
  • Enjoy a vibrant social scene
  • Get opportunities to travel to new and interesting places in the Province
  • Learn and keep updated as the game of rugby evolves
  • And of course, keep fit while doing it all! 

NEW REFEREE COURSE

Interested in taking up the whistle? A one-day course for all prospective new referees will take place this coming September ahead of the new season. Details are as follows:

When: 10am-2pm, Saturday 19th September
Where: Dangan Sports Complex, University of Galway
